RUSSIA PROPOSES NEW APPROACH TO CLIMATE CHANGE« Назад
Press Conference of Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO Anatoly Chubais
COP21, Paris, December 7, 11:00 Press Conference Room 2 in the media center at the Le Bourget conference venue
RUSNANO being a high-tech development institution in Russia and aiming at commercializing the latest developments in nanotechnology presented the new proposal of the company that is to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions by lowering the use of basic materials (metals, concrete, rubber, paper and etc.) Humanity has long been trying to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The best efforts have been focused on energy efficiency, new technologies in fossil-fuel burning, renewable power, etc. Within the press-conference Anatoly Chubais told about the unique RUSNANO’s proposal that is to enhance the traditional “energy approach” with a brand new nano-enabled technology which requires no subsidies and can boost global GDP by $1.5 trillion. It is a highly efficient and fully scalable single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) manufacturing method has been recently developed in Russia with the support of RUSNANO and lays a claim to the world sensation.
The use of SWCNT as an additive significantly improves the quality and characteristics of basic materials and thereby reduces their production output. This manufacturing method allows decreasing radically the price for the SWCNT production (now by 75 times and in future by 300 times) paving the way to their large scale application that will lead to considerable reduction of gas emissions.
*** Open Joint Stock Company RUSNANO contributes to the implementation of state policies on nanotechnology industry development by investing, both directly and via nanotechnology investment foundations, in financially efficient high-technology projects that ensure the development of new production facilities in the Russian Federation. Its primary investment focus is in electronics, optoelectronics and telecommunications, healthcare and biotechnology, metallurgy and metalwork, energy, mechanical engineering and instrument engineering, construction and industrial materials, chemicals and petrochemicals. OJSC RUSNANO is a 100% state-owned company. Anatoly Chubais is the Chairman of the Executive Board of RUSNANO.
